Relax and Recharge this Summer! – July Newsletter
This month we’re talking about consumer choice, meal kits in a cup and trendy grain bowls. We’d like to introduce you to Food Starter, a new partner located in Toronto, supporting the food industry with their co-packing facilities and business advisory services. Innovations and trends from FIRSt before the Canada Day Long Weekend – June Newsletter
The weather has finally turned around in June at our home in Toronto, and the winds have brought some warmer weather and some “life” back to the city. In this month’s newsletter we’re highlighting innovations across retailers, pop-up snack shops and foodservice. Attitudes towards ‘good food’ are changing and special diets continue to emerge.
Wrapping up conference month with our May trends
May appears to be conference month. The FIRSt team has been attending various trade shows and events, in addition to our usually busy research and product development schedule. In this newsletter we have identified some new innovative products and trends, and we even tried out a new vertical hydroponic growing system you might like to have at home, or in your business or restaurant. We have found a new funding opportunity that you might take advantage of over the summer months. As well, there is our usual update on the Helderleigh Foundation activities and its impact on helping Canadians eat better.
The latest happenings at FIRSt – Your April Newsletter
A lot has been happening at FIRSt! We have our sold out April 25th joint venture event with Royal Bank at the Prince Hotel where disruptors Ian Brooks CEO and Founder of Hello Fresh and David Farnell CEO, and founding dad of Real Kids for Real Food, confirm Ipsos’s Vice President Ashad Amin’s research and overview on what market conditions led to these two organizations being able to disrupt and succeed in a highly concentrated Canadian retail marketplace.
Working on product development in March
One of the many ways that we keep up, is to attend key trade shows like the Natural Health Products Expo in the US and the upcoming SIAL Show in Montreal. There are so many great products being launched and the challenges of adding new and innovative claims along with product development tests all of our resources and skills. It is a fun season in product development.
Welcome to the close of February
Lots is happening in the food world with trade shows and predictions for 2018. We have covered some of the key shows and provided some insightful infographics and consumer trends. Our regular columns continue to cover co-packer options in Ontario, a review of Chef Thor–an extraordinary baker from CHCA, and news on the Helderleigh Foundation projects.
Kicking things off in 2018!
We are kicking things off in 2018 with some trend reviews that might have you thinking about your new products’ programs this year, our co-packer spotlight features Rootham Gourmet Preserves, and we have another outstanding CHCA student working with us, Jannika Blair Murray. Best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year.
Happy Holidays to everyone from FIRSt
As we close out the year, we thought we would send you an update on trends and articles that we have enjoyed.
It is our plan for the New Year to send out a newsletter each month that highlights articles that are trending that may be of interest to you and your team. We will cover trends, consumer demographic data, and opportunities on co-packers and packaging.
Feel free to reach out to the FIRSt team for further information or help on your product development and research needs.
